Back to my roots.

Kyrkesundsgap Watercolor

View over Kyrkesundsgap, Tjörn, Sweden

I spent a couple of weeks in Sweden during the month of March. It is always good to be back, visiting family and friends and to catch up where we left.
Spring started slowly to arrive, we still had some snow but the days got longer and it did not get dark until late evening. My days were filled to the brim and time went fast. I had a great time. Every time I get back to Sweden , I promise my self to drive to the West Coast to see the Ocean, feel the salty water in the air and If I can't go swimming, at least touch the water with my hands. One beautiful Sunday, I packed my watercolor paper and paint and off I went. I visited the island Tjörn, where I spent many summer months in the past. Tjörn has the Nordic Watercolor Museum with great exhibitions, many years ago, they had the most magnificent exhibition about Andrew Wyeth.
I decided to stop at an old fishing village called Kyrkesund, I climbed up a mountain to get a nice view and I started to paint. It was a great day.
Now when I am back in Pennsylvania I have started to prepare for upcoming events. I am a part of Farmland Preservation Artists of Central Pennsylvania, we have an ongoing exhibition at The Green Drake Gallery and Arts Center thru the month of May.
During the Month of May, I will show my watercolors at The Gallery Shop in Lemont, the show is called
"Shaker Boxes and Watercolors Inspired by the Beauty of Central Pennsylvania"
Steve Strouse and Lena Thynell
April 26 to May 28
I have sent applications to some International Juried Shows, let's see how that goes.
A watercolor workshop is scheduled the first weekend of July, you find more information under "Events" on my website.
More events is coming later this spring and in the summer, I'll write more bout this next time.
Thank you for taking time reading my blog.
