Painting memories
I found some photos from Paris on my computer, they brought out old memories. Most of the photos were from the Marais Quarters where my daughter lived some years ago. She rented a tiny room on the top floor of a very old building. The room was more the size of a walk -in -closet, only 14m2/ 150 square feet. It included a kitchenette and a tiny bathroom, the bathroom was so narrow if you needed to turn around you had to back out and re-enter. The room had no heat and luckily she moved back home before the winter kicked in.
This morning was very beautiful , it was summer, I remember how the wind caught the sheer curtain when she opened her window, the hand forged iron works, the shadows on the opposite building, the rooftops, the chimneys. This is the story behind my painting.
It is important for me to have an emotional of connection to the object that I choose to paint. This painting was especially fun to do as it brought back a lot of memories.
I hope you like the story behind the painting.
